Homecoming - September 28, 1916

Today in history

In 1916: Plans have been completed for the third annual Homecoming and Fall Festival to be held in Zeeland Thursday and Friday, October 5 and 6. This “bigger and better celebration” now promised to draw crowds to Zeeland on those dates. This event will open with a monster automobile parade the first morning. Lady Anomar will make a balloon ascension each day. The Walton’s acrobats will give two performances each day. The DeLong Trio, famous tumblers, will also give two performances each day. Then there will be that man and his fat wife, dressed up as street “rubes,” who will entertain the people.
