Volunteer Opportunities

WE NEED YOU at the Zeeland Historical Society!!!

  • Do you love and appreciate history?
  • Do you value that there is an organization in town that is committed to collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of Zeeland and the surrounding area for future generations?
  • Have you come to any of our events or visited the museum or our 1881 schoolhouse?
  • Have you browsed our Website or visited our Facebook page?
  • Have we helped you with some family research or your home research?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then maybe you would consider supporting the Zeeland Historical Society by becoming one of our volunteers.

For 44 years the Zeeland Historical Society has been mostly an all volunteer organization.  Volunteers are our most valuable asset, and we could not function without them.

Some of our volunteers help out weekly, some monthly and some just once or twice a year.  Some help out at the museum and some at the schoolhouse and some even work from home. If you have a little extra time, we have a job for you!

Our Volunteer needs are as follows:

  • Museum Greeters and Guides
  • Maintenance People
  • Researchers (homes, buildings, families, and objects)
  • Gardeners
  • Memory Recorders
  • Call Makers
  • Event Planners
  • People with Video Skills
  • Hand Sewing Skills
  • Cookie Bakers and more

Attention Home Schoolers: We have many machines (complex and simple) that could be researched as well as kitchen tools or even the various types of saws and axes.  This could turn into a history project and/or a science project!

If you are interested in our volunteer opportunities, please contact us.  If you prefer, call the museum at 616-772-4079 and leave your name, phone number and email.  Debbie will return your call.

Thank you all for considering helping us out.
